Material Handling
Cylinders for dock, lift, and positioning equipment that has to repeat a precise motion thousands of times a day.
Material handling is a precision-and-repetition problem more than a raw-force one. A dock leveler, a lift table, or a positioner does not need to move mountains — it needs to make the same controlled motion thousands of times a day, smoothly, without drift, without a jerk that shifts a load. That changes what a good cylinder looks like: seal friction, cushioning, and consistent stroke matter as much as bore diameter, and running pressures are usually modest by hydraulic standards.
Smoothness comes from the seal and bearing package. Low-friction seals reduce stick-slip so a lift table starts and stops without lurching, and well-matched cushioning decelerates the load at end of stroke instead of banging the caps and walking the frame out of alignment over time. Because much of this equipment runs indoors on a fixed cycle, the design target is quiet, repeatable, long-life operation — the cylinder should disappear into the machine and just keep working through shift after shift.
Positioners, tilters, and upenders add the same off-axis loading that shows up anywhere a load pivots, so the rod bearings and stop tubes get sized for the real geometry of the motion, not just the weight being moved. On a fixed automated line the cost of a failure is the whole cell going down, so serviceability and predictable wear matter as much as the initial spec. We build lift, dock, and positioning cylinders to the print, tune the cushioning to the equipment so it stops the load without shock, and reverse-engineer discontinued units that keep an older line earning its keep. Every cylinder is pressure-tested to its rated working pressure before it ships, so the first shift on the machine is not the shakedown run for the cylinder.
